5 Simple & Fun Bridal Shower Activities

So it's been awhile since my bestie's Candy Confetti bridal shower (whoops!) but I'm finally ready to spill the rest of the deets! One of the things you either love or hate about showers are the kitschy activities. I for one, LOVE them. If you're on the other side of that camp, you can stop reading now.

Some of the more popular/traditional bridal shower games are the toilet paper dress competition, gift bingo, and bridal trivia. I decided to go beyond the norm and planned a few less traditional options.

Gummy Bear Holiday Favors

Need a last minute treat for the kids' holiday festivities at school? These little snack packs are the perfect way to dress up everyone's favorite candy all while wishing their friends a very merry Christmas. Number twenty-two of The 25 Projects of Christmas are Gummy Bear Christmas Favor packs.

All you need are my printable tags, some clear pillow boxes, and green/red gummy bears. How's that for easy? You could even put the gummy bears in some snack sized ziploc bags if you only have those on hand.

Fabric Candy Corn Treat Bags

Ahhh, October! It's beginning to get cooler and the leaves are starting to change. It's time to deck the halls with cobwebs and skeletons and start singing Monster Mash! This weekend I got around to dressing up some fabric treat bags for our favorite kids. Not only are these adorable, they're also super easy and NO-SEW!  Sweet!

Hazelnut Ganache Pops

Who doesn't love Nutella? I sure do. It's rich, creamy, and such a treat. Then again, it's much too sweet for me to smother a piece of toast as the label would suggest. Like all good things, it's best in moderation. That's why these little pops are the perfect treat. Rich nutty goodness in a tiny little package.

What You'll Need (makes about 25 pops)
  • 1 1/2 cups of fine (dark or milk) chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup nutella
  • 1/4 cup  and 2 tablespoons of hazelnuts, divided
  • 25 candy cups
  • Optional: Lollipop Sticks & Double-Boiler

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  2. Toast hazelnuts in a single layer for 5-7 minutes
  3. Using a double boiler over medium-high heat, melt the chocolate chunks and stir until smooth and glossy
  4. While that's melting coarsely chop the cooled hazelnuts (or use a food processor)
  5. Mix the Nutella with the melted chocolate until combined
  6. Stir in 1/4 cup of chopped hazelnuts to the chocolate/Nutella mixture (try not to resist eating it all write out of the bowl)
  7. Pour mixture into fluted candy cups, fill about 3/4 of the way up
  8. Top with the rest of the toasted hazelnuts
  9. OPTIONAL: Once set (will be the consistency of fudge) insert lollipop sticks

These are delicious on their own, but are even better when used as coffee or hot chocolate stirrers (if you don't mind pieces of hazelnut at the bottom of your cup).

Reese's PB Cup Pretzel Bites

Last Thursday the president of my company came up to me with an empty jar and a dramatically sad face and asked if I could make him "more snacks". It's difficult to say no to your boss's boss, if you know what I mean. After throwing around some ideas, I decided to do those "turtle pretzels" that are all over everywhere (pretzel + rolo + oven + pecan = turtle pretzel). Of course my attention to detail was a bit off and I accidentally purchased a bag of kisses/rolos/reeses so I had to come up with some alternatives... then it came to me: Reese's PB Cup Pretzel Bites. Hells yes, delicioso!!

Each treat needs:
  • 2 Snaps (square shaped pretzels)
  • 1 Reese's peanut butter cup
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees
  2. Lay out pretzels on a sheet of parchment paper
  3. Place unwrapped pb cup upside down on each pretzel
  4. Bake for 7 minutes
  5. Remove from oven and immediately squish another pretzel on top
  6. Chill for 1 hour on counter or 30 minutes in the fridge

Enjoy!!
