Football Friday - Fudgy Football Brownie Pops

Football season is the best season of all. Over the years, the Mr. has had quite the influence on this girl. We met in November while football was in full swing so I learned early on that our Sundays would be devoted to the pigskin. I wouldn't change a thing about it :) Monday Night Football was our first Eagles' game of the season so I made an extra special treat -- Fudgy Football Brownie Pops. 


You don't need any special tools or cake molds for these guys, just some patience and a steady hand.

Ingredients for 12-15 pops:
Boxed brownie mix and the ingredients necessary (usually 2 eggs, canola oil, and water)
Chocolate melts
Cream cheese frosting

Materials:
loaf pan
pop sticks

Instructions:
1. Prepare brownie mix as instructed on box
2. Bake brownies at 350 degrees for 20 minutes in a LOAF pan
3. Remove pan from oven (center will be INCREDIBLY runny), turn oven down to 250
4. Using a fork, stir the brownie mixture (stirring the cooked edges and bottom completely throughout the uncooked areas
5. Continue cooking until it's set but still very soft (about 15-20 more minutes)

6. Immediately scoop the brownie into a bowl with a fork or spoon -- it's completely okay if it crumbles up and gets clumpy... that's exactly what you want.
7. After the mixture has cooled slightly, start shaping the brownies into football shapes -- it's a lot like play dough at this point.
8. Insert pop sticks into the football drops and place in fridge or freezer to cool off. Once they are cool, they will be much less soft and very fudgy in texture
9. Melt your chocolates
10. Dip your football pops one at a time into the melted chocolate

The chocolate helps to stabilize the brownie onto the stick and smooths out its appearance. If you want to save yourself some calories, you don't necessarily need to dip in chocolate; they'll still be pretty fun little footballs in the end.

11. Continue dunking all the footballs. Don't worry if you have some casualties, they might be ugly but they sure are delicious (just ask my husband haha)
12. Once you've given the chocolate ample time to harden in the fridge or freezer, you can start piping on the cream cheese frosting. Start by piping a single line down the center.
13. Now pipe on little perpendicular lines for the lacing.
14. Place in the fridge for a couple of hours, or overnight, to allow the cream cheese frosting to harden.
