DIY Stained Glass Votives & Decorative Tealights

I signed up for Craftaholics Anonymous' Handmade Gift Exchange and I'm hopeful that this will be the time where my partner reciprocates... fingers crossed! My partner lives in Northern California and seems to like many of the things I do. I decided to make something and gift something that I myself would enjoy receiving.

These stained glass votives would be right at home on our patio so I'm hoping my partner loves them!

The best part? These are upcycled baby food jars!

How to Gift a Grocery Store Bouquet

Spring is so close, I can practically smell it. Well, that's probably because I scored quite the deal on lovely flowers at Trader Joe's this weekend. I love that place! The best deal of the weekend? $1.49 for 10 daffodil stems.

For that kind of price, you can't even complain about the flowers' basic packaging - a rubber band. Definitely can't gift them in their current state (even though they're incredibly lovely!) So, what's a girl to do? Fancy them up! But how?!

T-Shirt Upcycle - Braided Infinity Scarf

We're in the midst of yet another snowstorm. Welp, it's as good a time as any for a new scarf. Might as well make it a colorful and bright infinity scarf to cheer up those winter blues. Am I right, or am I right?

Best part? This knotted cowl is made out of upcycled t-shirts Heck yes. Thrifty and fabulous.

Drab to Fab - Eyewear Makeover

Need a quick pick me up? If you wear glasses, especially plain jane frames, I have a super easy way to dress those babies up.

In total, this makeover will cost you all of $2. Yerp. That's it.  I'm pretty sure most of us can swing that.

Vinyl Tablecloth Upcycle: Doggie Raincoat

Sometimes I just can't resist a pop of color. I saw the brightest summertime tablecloth at Homegoods last year and snagged it on clearance for less than $8. Unfortunately, I was a little blond and grabbed the wrong shape for our square table... womp womp. What's a girl to do with an oversized outdoor tablecloth? Well, a normal girl would probably throw it out but a crafty girl turns it into the cutest doggie raincoat ever! It was the perfect upcycle project for Week 5 at So You Think You're Crafty.

Quinn despises getting wet, so making a raincoat just for her has been on my to-do list for almost a year now. To make this sassy number for your favorite furbaby, you'll need some sewing essentials, and old coat that fits well, half a tablecloth, and a full afternoon.

Menswear Easter Bunny - Tutorial

Happy Easter, everyone! This post was originally posted Easter of 2012, but since the blog has grown quite tremendously since then, I thought it deserved another shot at the big time :) Enjoy!

"We're going to be seeing the in-laws later this afternoon and I cannot wait to see our nephew. Julian is a bit shy of 2 years old and such a little cutie. His parents are trying to limit his candy intake, so rather than a normal chocolate bunny, I decided it would be nice to make him a teeny tiny stuffed animal -- perfect for his little hands.

DIY Washi Tape Tray

A year ago, I shared the book page banner that I put in our bedroom and as you can see from those pictures, all of the room is neutral. Guess what? It still is. I'm a little embarrassed to even admit that I'm incredibly scared of introducing color into our decor. When I found a bright red floating frame on clearance at Target, I knew it was due time that I went out on a limb. That frame became a fun springtime jewelry tray and all it took were a few strips of washi tape.

Isn't that red just perfect? It's so eye-catching and contrasts the beige and white in the best way possible.

Toms Sunglasses Pouch

I have a slight obsession with my Ray Ban Wayfarers. Over the summer my super wonderful husband bought me this matte blue pair and I treasure them. He also bought me my first pair of Toms, too! I'm a bit too smitten with that brand altogether; I'd buy every pair if I was allowed. This project combines both of those lovelies into one single accessory - a lined canvas pouch for your sunglasses.
