How to Gift a Grocery Store Bouquet

Spring is so close, I can practically smell it. Well, that's probably because I scored quite the deal on lovely flowers at Trader Joe's this weekend. I love that place! The best deal of the weekend? $1.49 for 10 daffodil stems.

For that kind of price, you can't even complain about the flowers' basic packaging - a rubber band. Definitely can't gift them in their current state (even though they're incredibly lovely!) So, what's a girl to do? Fancy them up! But how?!

2014 Memories & Blessings Mason Jar

On New Year's Eve, Joe and I were chatting about our resolutions and plans for the year. I was telling him about how I wanted to choose a word for the year and about this really cool memory jar idea that I stumbled upon on Pinterest.

Have you seen them? If not, here's the rundown: Throughout the year, you toss in notes of the good things (big or small) that touched your life. Then, at year's end, you pull them out together and reminisce.  To my surprise, he thought the jar was an awesome idea. Almost three weeks later and I finally have the jar done.

What I like most about this is that while it's obviously a fit for the New Year, it could also work just as well to record what happened between birthdays.

Need some ideas of what to share? Try some of these:
Surprise gifts
Daily blessings
Happy moments
Special memories
Momentous occasions
Life's little pleasures
Milestones
Accomplished goals

Mini Bunny & Chick Burlap Sacks

We had a gorgeous weekend -- sunshine, warm weather, and birds chirping. It is Spring at last! I guess that means that Easter is right around the corner. We don't really decorate for Easter but I try to get some Spring stuff out around the house. First thing was a bouquet of tulips, then I made the mason jar photo frame, and now onto some mini burlap treat bags.

Pinecone Curtain Ties

Earlier this year I transformed our window treatments with huge poppy curtain ties. They made such a positive impact on the room but it was about time to switch things up a bit. My original inspiration came when I saw this wreath alternative here. I fell in lust but since I already made my Star of Bethlehem wreath, I scrapped that idea and went inside with the pinecones instead.  That's when I decided on number seventeen of The 25 Projects of Christmas: Pinecone Curtain Ties. These will surely delight throughout the rest of the season.

While the Mr. is super nice about letting me have free reign when decorating the house, I try not to press my luck. "Pretty" things just aren't his style. While I'd say that these curtain ties are definitely on the pretty side, he doesn't seem to mind. Yay me! Read on for how to make your own!

Burlap Dry-Erase Calendar

I don't know about you, but our summers are jam packed with BBQs, birthday parties, day trips, weddings, vacations, and baseball games -- you name it, we gotta do it. This time of year is when we start double booking our weekends or forgetting plans we already made. A communal calendar in the kitchen is exactly what we needed to stay on track. Considering that our kitchen will be getting remodeled soon (wooo!!) and it'll have a rustic cottage-y feel when it's all said and done, I wanted something that would fit for the long run.

This dry-erase calendar is now our saving grace!
Cute, right??

Materials:
Calendar Template (download mine here)
Adequately-sized Frame
Burlap (about 13" by 13")
Linen Scrap
White Twine
Tacky Glue

Process:

And the finished product... Tah dah!

Simply write on with a dry-erase marker and you're ready to go!
